Re comment on GTD/Auto Focus - please be aware a) that some of us are not GTD devotees (I got half way through the book and gave up because it clearly wasn't addressing some of the things that are issues for me - like forward planning. At the end of day, GTD is just a bunch of ideas that some guy came up with - the fact that something is not in GTD does not make it a bad or a wrong thing)
b) that, as I understand it, Andrey's laudable aim with the tool is to provide something that is flexible and capable of supporting a wide range of different work planning methodologies - my own approach is to take ideas from a number of different techniques and the beauty of MLO is that you can tailor it to your own particular way of working. Whilst I agree that there is a risk of making MLO 'bloatware' (it is already quite challenging to use), it is clearly a tool which is aimed at the more sophisticated end of the market and I suspect that these new features could be added in a way that would allow them to be hidden/switched off by those that don't need them. As I have indicated elsewhere, adding a limited time tracking capability will widen the appeal of the product to (for example) people using the Pomodoro technique Richard -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Grant Sent: 09 September 2010 4:17 PM To: MyLifeOrganized Subject: [MLO] Re: MLO without a Calendar Steve, good to hear from you... on an old favorite topic of our! Could you accept that we could use a Calendar VIEW? Just a graphical representation, no functionality next to ' click to open task '? MLO includes the capability to record start and due dates, so that is done, and part of MLO functionality. A calandar is very much part of GTD, which MLO trys to support. I fully agree we do not want to move MLO into the PIM world, where its calculating when you could fit something in. That goes too much in the face of GTD and Auto Focus, - the main organization approaches MLO supports. Probably what bugs a lot of us the most is that Audry does NEVER reacts on this particular topic, even thought its been requested and discussed many times over the last many years...
