I deleted all the old messages, dont remember what
distro you are using... The procedure for disabling
IPv6, in Fedora, was there in the original message I
sent... I dont see any reason why the same shouldnt
work here too... Incase it doesn't work, the 'best'
solution would be a new kernel compile, WITHOUT IPv6,
you wouldn't be needing it anytime soon, hence pull it
out... K.I.S.S and all that kinda stuff... If you want
to disable it for your system, without a fresh
compile, I recommend you google it, and look around on
sites like linuxquestions.org ... You learn a LOT
better by searching and experimenting, than by having
other people give out procedures to follow...
Infact, MyLUG and LCC should both consider weekly
'contests' ... Troubleshooting Linux problems is
perhaps one of the best ways to learn how to use it...
Theres LOADS of problems out there, let the new guys
(not n00bs :) ) do some research, mail in their
solutions, and stuff like that... blah blah blah...
write a kernel compilation guide, based on what you
read and tried, yada yada yada... I cant be arsed
enough to type it all here, maybe we'll (yeah, again,
they know who they are) discuss it during our next
'intensive brain-storming session' at CCD...
If you run into any 'unexpected problems' after doing
some research, dont hesitate to buzz us... This forum
is for helping out, and we'll see how best we can
figure out the problem... Also, update the group with
any and all progress you make, others might not be
facing the same problems you are, but its always good
to know the kind of problems people can run into, and
how best they can be solved...
Yes, I love to type,
