Sorry if this is getting off-topic, but are you right-handed? This is just
speculation, but if so, that may be why it seems more natural to have the
docks on the right; I'm a lefty and find the opposite more comfortable because
of how my hand rests on the tablet surface. My hand tends to hit the edge of
the tablet when I'm using the far left side for image work because of how I
hold the stylus and move my arm, so I generally avoid interacting with the
leftmost ~15% of the canvas in a normal default tools-on-the-right layout.
It doesn't interfere much with UI interaction, though, so I keep the tools on
the left to use screen real estate efficiently. Perhaps right-handed users
find the opposite to be true, and instinctively avoid the right side of the
tablet for the same reason.
