I've been reading the list and documentation, but haven't found
confirmation/denial of the following issues:
(Currently using ver 3.23.33 intel binary RPM from mysql.com)
1) Is it possible to have multiple instances of mysql updating the
_same_ binary log(same machine)? If so, this would allow a star
topology on the replication, and only the root node server would require
multiple instances to run for replication... (Hmmm) This would also
allow for more heirarchical (sp?) replication.
ie correct handling of locking and appending to the log...
2) If multiple instances of mysql are running on the server, can both
update the same tables?
3) Is the transmission between master/slaves compressed?
4) If a slave database is configured not to replicate a table from the
master, will the data be sent from the master to the slave, and thrown
away on the slave, or is it trimmed out before transmission. (has
importance when updating across WAN/slow links)
Thanks in advance
