Hi All,

mysql is running, but, there seems to be no /tmp/mysql.sock file. How is this file generated..? I can't connect, keep getting errors. What about via a port..? What is the argument for that..? Cheers.

It's probably not in /tmp any more. Try /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock, or look at `mysqladmin variables` and check the 'socket' value.

Hi All,

Simon, if it is somewhere else, how do I let other apps etc know..? If the client, which is the same PC as the server, is of the same version/install, why doesn't it know where it is..? Cheers.

Hi All,

[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]# mysql_config --socket
/tmp/mysql.sock

Is that what you were referring to, Simon..? Looks to me like it should be where mysql(and phpmyadmin also) is trying to access it from. Any thoughts on this further..? Cheers.
