The command FLUSH TABLES WITH READ LOCK has an equivalent, supposedly, from mysqladmin.
But whatever it is, it's not documented! I've unsuccessfully tried mysqladmin flush-tables --with-read-lock mysqladmin flush-tables --read-lock What works?
