Hi Brad,
  I use many FreeBSD (4.3 to 4.5 ) systems, but I do not have a
/var/SAMT directory.
using:
bash-2.03$ perror 2
Error code   2:  No such file or directory
bash-2.03$

Could this have something to do with SAMBA or NFS?
