On the contrary -- I *DO* like the fact that the help on this list is *FREE* of charge, AND that the support on the list is better than most paid support services.
I'm just trying to figure out why my carefully and thoughtfully researched help request has gone unanswered (or even commented on) for nearly a week. Based on the other responses I've seen to what are essentially "RTFM" questions/answers, I'm stumped on why a legitimate, undocumented problem doesn't seem to be a concern to anyone but me. I'm sure that my THIRD e-mail on the subject has me looking like an ass to many people ... But at least it proved that my postings were making it to the list. It's intensely disappointing to see that the only answer I can get to a recurring instability problem on a platform that's getting as much publicity as Mac OS X Server is "Go buy a $2500 service contract and maybe you'll get an answer." It's exactly that sort of situation I'd hoped to AVOID by using a community-based product such as MySQL. Is the name changing to My$QL? I'm not saying that these guys don't deserve the cash they get from a service contract, or investment, or anything else -- MySQL is clearly a high-quality product that's worth the money. But is my question (which I can't believe describes a situation that affects ONLY myself) ... The ONLY question I've EVER posed to ANY MySQL discussion group after using MySQL as a web developer for FOUR YEARS a $2500 question? Doesn't seem like it to me, but perhaps it seems like it you folks. Thanks for the tip. -Clay ___________________________ Clay Loveless Webmaster, Crawlspace http://www.crawlspace.com/ > From: Gurhan Ozen <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Date: Thu, 25 Apr 2002 13:15:42 -0400 > To: Clay Loveless <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: RE: how to get support help? > > Hi Clay Loveless, > As response to your loveless messages, I would like to browse : > http://www.mysql.com/support/index.html . > > I have seen many times where people helped others for the matters that were > not documented on this list.
