You might consider a subscription to O'Reilly's Safari Book club and look at 
some of the MySQL books they have. I understand the first 2 weeks are free, 
which might be enough for picking a book.

An evening spent a Barnes and Noble would probably work, too. 

FWIW, I have "MySQL Second Edition" and Sam's "Teach Yourself MySQL in 21 
Days", I find myself looking at the latter more than the former as I find the 
information easier to find, YMMV.
