I installed 4.1.0 alpha from the RPMS on Redhat 9. I had to use --force (or is it --nodeps, I can never remember) because MySQL wants libcrypto and libssl 0.9.6 and Redhat 9 has 0.9.7. First question (coming from that other world) why aren't these dependencies 0.9.6, or greater, instead of being locked into a specific version. My second question is what can I do about it? MySQL runs fine despite the version difference BUT I can't apt-get upgrade because of the broken dependency. That means I can't upgrade anything else on my little box. What do I have to do to resolve this really irritating issue?
