Yes, that is a good reason to put it on a separate disk, but not a separate partition of the same disk, which is what Knoppmyth does. Anyway, I still don't understand why it continues to grow. If I am staying a fixed time behind 'live' then the buffer should be a fixed length.

It continues to grow until a preset maximum. After that is loops. The problem with the current knoppmyth installer seems to be that the preset buffer size is bigger than the partition it is placed on....
