They can really bring your spirit down but it will be the best lessons for you. You will learn quicker and make a better technician dealing with picky cranky clients. After a few years of experience and getting your clientelle built up somewhat you will either learn to love those that gave you a hard time or you will figure out a way to get rid of them. Either way they will make you the tech that you are going to be. It is so hard trying to please all different types of people and when you are new, its like you are on a job interview all day long, everyday. Mentally exhausting! It will get easier as time passes. Lots of hard work and alot of free nails. If your boss will let you, you should be doing free or very cheap nails on anyone that will let you practice. It is much better then sitting at a salon doing nothing but getting discouraged all day. Use your free time practicing on the things that are frustrating you the most so you can get more comfortable with your work. You are your best model for trail and error. Try things out and see how it holds up on you. This list has helped me in so many ways. You will learn so much! Not one of us hasn’t made a similar mistake, and after only 3 months, seriously it is not a long time. I know I am certainly not perfect. Has your boss actually said anything to you? Or are you just being hard on yourself? If your boss taught you the procedures, maybe she just needs to go over it with you again. One thing is for sure in this business though….you really need to grow a thick skin. Things like this are going to happen, especially when you’re new. It’s how you handle it that determines your success. Like I said, hang in there, but ask your boss for help if you need it ! Thanx a lot I really appreciate your kindness! Well like I said I'm not happy about how the client talked behind my back saying she might not come back just coz of that lil mistake. I'm very dissaponted in myself coz I know I'm doing my best. I just need inspiration, coz I don't have anymore Sent via my BlackBerry from Vodacom - let your email find you! ________________________________ From: "Laura Merzetti" <[email protected]> Sender: [email protected] Date: Thu, 24 Feb 2011 13:42:04 -0500 To: <[email protected]> ReplyTo: [email protected] Subject: RE: NailTech:: Disappointed Hi Bonnie, welcome! Sherri made some valid points – tell us what exactly your boss is disappointed in and I’m sure someone here can help. Also….3 months is not a long time, I’m pretty sure I felt the same way you do now after 3 months. Hang in there! Laura M. Your skill? Your speed? Client retention? Retail sales? Are you an employee or booth renter? Does the boss do nails or hair? What had your boss done to help you address specific issues? Are you the only nail tech? Is there someone in your area willing to mentor you? Are you in an area where education is available? Its hard to offer help or advice with the limited information you provided. Can your give us more to work with?
