Is there a reason you're forcing people to take manual action with 23  
hours notice rather than just importing the existing list membership  
into mailman?

Obviously there's a chance for clearing out dead wood, but with  
mailman's bounce handling, I just don't immediately see the benefit  
of having the subscribers lose list traffic because of less-than- 
timely action.
