We actually were exposed to this stuff in college during Saturday classes
that were attended by post-grad IT professionals (whom were working on
furthering their education). In turn, they helped further our education by
bringing knowledge of the industry including information on how to work with
clients in different scenarios.
It seems reasonable that this type of scenario would work in other Computer
Science dept's curriculum as well. But then again, it required a small
classroom environment with high interaction that typically is only afforded
by small d3 schools.
In addition, schools can't teach you everything they can only help you learn
how to problem solve. In fact, Steve in an earlier post says it flat out:
"... education should NOT be the teaching of facts. Education should be
teaching how, given a problem to solve, to:
- determine the facts that you need,
- find those facts, and
- apply those facts."
