I think you're right. Wonder how many side deals went on. What really sucks is not what I paid for the tubes, but that they are sitting in my garage waiting for a use. Like others have said, it simply means that I have more projects than time permits. Fortunately, I don't have more projects than lifespan, but am working on that. Michail: I few notes about the numbers, I believe I have captured almost all of the auctions during the period specified. Obviously the data is for auctions only and does not include any sales outside of ebay because they would be impossible to track. I did not add auctions that included other items such as tube sockets, PCB’s, finished or partially completed clocks or clock kits because at the time how could you determine the value of the other items and their influence on the final selling price. However, now that we have a good statically base for the tube prices you can easily estimate the value of the other items. As for the $600 two tube auction, the final price I believe was actually $649.63. I specifically left this out as it was clearly an anomaly and would therefore artificially skew the final result. As others have indicated there are less expensive alternatives to the B-7971 if you want a large display. I was fortunate enough to acquire my B-7971 tubes years ago and believe the most I ever paid for one tube was $20 and I thought that was a high price at the time especially when I saw some older advertisements selling two tubes for $5 and that included tube sockets and a PCB! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "neonixie-l" group.
