Greg,

I ready source for compact unfiltered IEC power inlet sockets is dead PC power supplies.  I find those often enough in the recycling bins.

Hey Greg,

I have an excellent HP counter that I just couldn't bear to modify so I
still have one such cord.  On the rest of my instruments, I've been able
to find non-EMI filter IEC connector that could be made to fit with a
little nibbler work.  There's usually enough room in those old machines
for those short non-EMI sockets.

The worst I've ever had to do was fabricate a cover plate for the old
style socket and cut an IEC socket elsewhere on the back panel.
