I can answer to the capacitor question - many of them are bipolar caps - panasonic FC are not. Panasonic does make bipolar caps, "SU" series if I'm not mistaken. Nichicon VP or Nichicon "MUSE" type caps I've used and like the results. Just be sure the ones you use are of the same type (bipolars for bipolars at least), value, and equal or higher voltage rating.
The resistors probably aren't a problem - for your edification you could examine two modules, let's say the one with the freq. anomolies and another one. See if you find anything out of line there. Unless you've got a problem with the way it sounds or with noise, I wouldn't go there. Can't speak to the rest of your inquiries, someone else here surely can.
