I understand why you want to change the character of your signal on your main
outs. I have altered the main stereo output of my Neotek series 1e console with
fantastic results. But as far as your direct outs why? I think one of the best
features of the Neotek design is the minimal signal path, part of this has to
do with the lack of op-transformers. Unless I'm misunderstanding the way your
planning on doing it is coming from your single channel direct output on a
channel strip. Then inserting it into a line in > transformer > Tape/DAW. Can
you not just line into any preamp you have like an API 512c it will hit the
transformer. Is this the same concept or am I missing something?

Hello Greg,

I'm doing it more for sonic character. So...I plan on building a box with
multiple (two tranny's per set) sets of different transformers. (i.e. Edcor,
UTC, Jensen, etc.) as money permits. I would like to have two or three
different sets of transformers to use on the main outs, then maybe a couple
"stand alone" trannys for solely using on a direct outs.

Either I'll build one chassis with enough expansion room, or just build what I
need for now and make another box when the time comes. I have a 30" metal brake
I bought just for these projects so making a box is quite easy.

Thanks for all the info guys!

Are you doing this for sonics or utility?

Hello,

I have been thinking about adding some output transformers to my Series One. I
am thinking about building a rack chassis with two (for now) transformers and
having them available via patchbay... so obviously they are not technically in
the Neotek. I could then patch them in on a direct output or on the master outs
before hitting tape or my convertors.

Should be easy enough, but my question is if anyone has some suggestions as to
what transformer is a good match sonically with a Series One. I am considering
this only for more options in terms of adding some different sonic charactor
and color. The design would be just a passive circuit.
