After reading your email again I feel like I did not answer your last question. 
Always go for the 1e modules you have more of an eq section. Also in my opinion 
as I said in the previous reply I think the 1e has a smoother more pleasing 
sound. I've heard that the series 1&1e have the same preamp. Ive done tests 
with 
the eq out and normalized if they are the same, then something else is coming 
in 
to play chips, caps, who knows?? but i hear a major difference between the 
1&1e.

I have a series on that I am modding when the needs arise.

Having said that, in your opinion I should upgrade to a 1e for tracking except 
in vocals and overheads?

Maybe I should split the console 12-1 and 12-1e with the 1 sub and master 
section.

Do feel it would be beneficial to keep the 1 or should I just get a really good 
1e and maybe rack a pair of 1s?
