I appreciate your advice, but maybe you can clarify something
for me. I have Nmap installed on my server, and it works from
a command line there. But based on what you've told me, it is
not being used, but rather a plugin version built-in to Nessus?
So are you saying that the Nmap plugin configuration settings
in NessusWX apply to the "built-in" version, not the command
line version on my server? Then if I was to tell NessusWX to
disable Nmap (under plugins), it would not use the plugin
version. Would it then us the server copy? And if that's the case,
how would I pass scan parameters to Nmap?

Sorry if this isn't making make sense, I'm just confused about how
this whole thing works. I really don't care what instance of Nmap
runs my scan, so long as I can tell it to do a SYN scan and not
do a tcp connect scan.

And BTW, since someone mentioned that Nmap 3.00 is out, if
I install that on my server will Nessus use it?
