I run Redhat 7.3 and 8.0 at home, and SuSE 7.2 and 8.1 at work. No problem. All I can tell is that SuSE 6.4 is really too old: Bison cannot properly compile NASL2. So yes, any good (free?) and not too old Unix should be all right.
