I use unstable. You're talking about only using the stable distribution.

Also it's worthwhile to note that it's as easy to run 1.2.x (or 2.x for that matter) on unstable or stable. If you want it running in stable you can automatically have it compiled (the wonders of 'apt-get source'). I've had all Nessus versions (from 1.2.x to latest 2.0.x) running in Debian 3.0 machines.

Unstable keeps everything up-to-date, and I haven't had any issues with it. Currently, unstable is at 1.2.7.

Will change soon.

Seriously, I think that unstable should have it updated soon (from whoever is maintaining the package).

2.0.1 packages are available at 'experimental'. As soon as Josip Rodin can take some time and test them he will commit them to 'unstable' (the main reason for it to be there is that I have made the packages, not Josip, the official maintainer).

In any case, you get one thing with Debian you don't get with RedHat: support. Yes, we are volunteers, but it's better level of support than 0. Notice that there are _no_ official packages for RedHat. As for other distributions (Mandrake, SuSE) they are providing older versions in their distribution than Debian unstable is (IIRC).

PS: Yes, I'm biased. Guess you found out yourself that by now :-)
