Wes has always been adamant that we cannot make any further
releases containing the original snmpnetstat application.
So withdrawing the code altogether is perfectly sensible.
But he's also been very insistant that we should ship
*some* version of snmpnetstat - presumably based on the new
rewrite. Which is the reason I'm questioning why we have cut
an rc4 tarball, when this rewrite+wrapper is (presumably) not
ready, but (presumably) still wanted.
I'm more and more coming to feel that retaining the 'rc'
nomenclature is a mistake. We'd probably be better off
issuing subsequent 5.2.2 development tarballs (if any)
under a preN banner - at least until we've sorted out the
situation with snmpnetstat.
Yes:
pre -> rc -> pre -> rc
is somewhat confusing.
But less so (IMO) than issuing what are *actually* preN
tarballs under an rcN name, but without any explanation
of the fact.
