Well, I had 2 choices for a problem reported the Friday before a release
candidate was to be shipped. Release broken code, or provide a simple fix. And
we haven't shipped a final version (we're note even in rc mode yet), so there
is nothing academic about the discussions at all.

I am surprised, however, at objections to what I consider such a small change.
Renaming a variable and moving it into the agent library isn't a big deal. And
fixing an infinite loop seems to be a no-brainer as well.

Note that this objection came after the fact. So I neither ignored nor
overruled anyone.

Also note that we are still in the 'pre-release' phase, and pretty much all
changes related to a bug fix are fair game, so I think indignation is a bit of
an overreaction.

I also think I've been pretty good lately at paying attention to input and
being pretty flexible. Hopefully you've seen at least a minor improvement.

This is one of the reasons I suggested we move to 5.2.3.pre instead of staying
with the rc name. But I was overruled that time.

You are lost in a twisty maze of little standards, all different.
