Robert, The problem seems to exist as far back as FreeBSD 4.9 and 4.10.
It may well be a FreeBSD issue - I can't tell. I am not familiar with how the net-snmp code obtains information (presumably from the kernel). So it's a bit hard to know whether the problem lies in net-snmp or FreeBSD. I have also emailed the owner of the FreeBSD net-snmp port but have not seen a reply. >-----Original Message----- >From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >[mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf >Of Robert Story >Sent: 01 April 2005 20:24 >To: Andy Hall >Cc: [email protected] >Subject: Re: Missing Physical Address information with >net-snmp 5.21 and FreeBSD 5.3 > >On Sun, 27 Mar 2005 19:25:51 +0100 Andy wrote: >AH> I have installed the net-snmp 5.21 port on FreeBSD 5.3 and am >AH> finding that a query to the machine does not produce all >of the expected variables. >AH> >AH> For example: >AH> >AH> snmpwalk -v 1 -c public localhost interface >AH> >AH> does not return the expected >AH> >AH> interfaces.ifTable.ifEntry.ifPhysAddress.x > >AH> I should add that if I run snmpwalk on this machine and >use other machines' >AH> agents I do get the missing information, and equally, when >AH> targetting the FreeBSD 5.3 machine from other machines I still get >AH> missing variables as above > >Are any of the machines that work also FreeBSD 5.3, or older >versions?
