Thanks for stepping up John.

I'm really new to the netdev area, but I thought I'd throw this out as
I've been watching this thread with interest...

The GPL Realtek driver Andrea Merello:

http://rtl8180-sa2400.sourceforge.net/
    and
http://www.hpl.hp.com/personal/Jean_Tourrilhes/Linux/Linux.Wireless.drivers.802.11b.html#RealtekGPL)

seems like a prime candidate for inclusion as lots of people have
reported success...

That said, I've been unable to successfully make it work on my card (it
binds to the card, brings it up, but doesn't ever pass traffic). I did
send Andrea some feedback (as well as a patch that's floating around on
the internet to bring it up-to-date on the way it uses a few interfaces
so that it will compile), as well as a typo or two - but I never got a
response either time I sent it to him. =(

If there is some reason it's been rejected from inclusion, I might even
try my hand at getting it to conform.

Either way, I thought I'd express interest in that getting into mainline.
