Of course. All you have to do if you are running 3.01 is click on Help,
then on About Windows NetMeeting, and your IP address (current) is listed
right there. This is the way it all really works. All the directory
servers do for you is get some other pointer, ie. your email address or
other "married up" to this address. The only problem you will find with
dialing the real IP address is that most likely one or both ISPs' are using
DHCP servers which assign IP addresses for a limited amount of time. In
other words your IP address can expire and be renewed(with a different
number) during any given connection. This would usually break your
NetMeeting connection. Other than that the way it really works is by
connecting two(or more) IP addresses. If you don't happen to be running
3.01, it is a bit more tedious to obtain your current IP address. You need
to open a DOS prompt and key in at the command line- netstat -rn. I will
list it in all caps so that there is no confusion on what I have typed
here, NETSTAT -RN. This will "dump" to your DOS prompt a bunch of numbers.
The bottom right hand number should be your IP address. Just have the
other person call you at that number.
Good Luck,
sr

I have the same problem. I understand I might be able to by pass the ILS
servers by calling the other party using their IP address (which might
change at every call the other party is connecting through an ISP assigned
IP address) but I haven't had a chance to try it out yet.

Is there anybody out there using direct IP connections?

Tks,

Ilson DaSilva
