It was abandoned because the development team at that time decided that Python gave a more agile and flexible way to program the logics behind Netsukuku. As of today I still think that was a bad idea, but that's just my personal opinion because i like C the most :^) Both Python and Vala implementations demonstrated to be able to run on embedded devices, so most of my prejudices against those languages aren't holding anymore. ciao p.s. if I may suggest, avoid putting private people's email directly in CC: since this may annoy them.
