A agree that the DLPI spec does not require sent packets to be looped back to
the sending stream (whether promiscuous or not) and that it is a bad design to
do so. I have already prepared a proposal to change the recommended behavior
for DLPI drivers (i.e. change from "unspecified" to "loopback discouraged") as
part of fixing some other promiscuous/loopback issues that have come up with
briding. I'll send this proposal here shortly.
