Possibly. Debugging your internet connection is probably outside the
scope of what we can do here.
Generally, if you can use DHCP, you should. Most of the time, it will
work properly. If it doesn't, then it is usually an indication of one
or more several things:
1) failure in the network, or network equipment (router, cable/dsl
modem, etc.)
2) misconfiguration in the network (usually a misconfigured home router)
3) cabling fault (really covered under #1)
4) network doesn't support DHCP (see also #2 above)
5) hardware failure of the device on the computer (not often)
6) software bug on the computer (least likely)
You need eliminate items 1-5 before we talk about 6. Again, figuring
this out is probably out-of-scope for this discussion. If you have a
friend who is network-knowledgeable, its usually not very difficult to
figure out issues 1-5.
