I understood that I needed to enable only one of these TWO: svc:/network/physical:nwam svc:/network/physical:default The surprise was that, with inetmenu installed, we actually have to make sure that only one of these THREE is enabled:  svc:/network/physical:nwam svc:/network/physical:default  svc:/network/inetmenu:default I didn't know about the inetmenu service until I went looking into what was bashing nsswitch.conf Thanks, Gordon
