I'm aware of only one thing snoop provides that tshark does not: familiarity for people who've been using Solaris for a very long time. :-)

Eliminating snoop at this time is not practical. I think "abandoning" snoop shouldn't happen at least until we have had a significant release cycle that included an alternative. As it stands, there has not yet been an actual production release that included wireshark.
