FC8 has 2.6.23.  I suppose FC9 might do the trick.  Or maybe they'll backport
some fixes.

Even when internal wireless works (and I have a PCMCIA card with working
linux support, which is similar in usability to internal), I still prefer
external USB wireless for the reasons mentioned (can be positioned
independently from the laptop).

But it is nice when the internal wireless is available in case you need it.
