I'm failing to install Mandrake 5.3 from a Win95 partition (d:) on my
hardrive. I have read the installation instructions, to no avail. I am
using the appropriate boot.img & supp.img disks for this type of
install. The install sails along nicely until I am asked for the
locale of the Mandrake files.

Here's the problem: the install fails at the point where I'm asked for
the partition and directory within it where the Mandrake files are. I
get the following error message,"partition seems to not have a valid
installation tree." But, it does; it has the exact configuration as
the FTP site.

However, "Red Hat Linux Unleashed" advices to create a top RedHat
directory in the partition, with the base files and RPM packages
nested within it. I have also, accordingly, created a

        RedHat
                Base
                RPMS

directory structure in said partition to test if that was the problem.
No luck either.

Anyway, if that depiction was confusing, can someone kindly walk me
through a hardrive install??
