Signal 11 errors are always hardware failures.  Have him check to make sure
that he's not overclocking the CPU, and that the memory timings in BIOS are
within spec.  Could be that he's got a ram chip going bad...  There's a
sig11 FAQ available online, but I don't recall the URL.  Sorry
