Yes, but which files do you want to install??? There are at least a dozen
"kernel" RPM files in the "upgrades" directory. Not knowing WHICH files and
WHAT ORDER is a real pain, as I found out last night! Please, let's try to
be a BIT more specific! For example, I've got an SMP machine, and there's
kernel files specific to SMP. Do I still need to install kernel-BOOT? (I
would guess so.) What about "kernel-smp-fb.xxxxx.xxxx.i586.rpm"???? Hell, I
just wish there was a FAQ on this sort of thing, stating generically which
kernel files to install in which order, i.e. "First, install
kernel-xxxxxx.xxxxx, then kernel-xxxxxx, followed by kernel-xxxxx, and then
the initscripts rpm and then run LILO." So far, I haven't found anything
like that. I even looked on the Mandrake page and didn't find it! I'm afraid
that this sort of "key information" is NOT readily available, unless it's in
the manuals, which, admittedly, I haven't even opened yet!
