Hi Shane, You're sure you've mapped\opened all the necessary ports for HL\TFC?
By default SNF allows any outbound connections, and lets established connections carry on, but has nothing mapped for incoming from teh net. Im not sure if this is even close (I built a couple of SNF boxes for friends), but HL has been known to be a tad "picky" (:P) net-code-wise, and it cant hurt opening the specific ports for a test... :) Dont know if thats any use to you, sorry if you felt I was "talking down", GL with solving it. -Andrew Tuesday, September 03, 2002, 4:01:28 AM, you wrote: s> -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- s> Hash: SHA1 s> right, here goes again.... s> i have a choice right now to run my connection sharing either through s> mandrake SNF or a linksys router. now the router is ok, does the job, but s> when i use the SNF on an old p90 i consistently get anywhere from s> 150-300kbps faster. despite the extra power draw i really prefer the SNF s> machine. :) s> here is the trouble. with SNF everything i do works just great. except TFC s> (half-life version) which tells me there is no internet. i know the s> machine works, cause i have gotten email, and downloaded updates on it. s> but no games. any ideas? s> ....not that i play more than 3 times a year. s> - -- s> As I've Matured, I've learned that you cannot make someone love you.
