I shut down and restarted, to make sure I was accurately reporting the events....then I remembered selecting 'interactive' when Linux was starting up. I ignored that option and then asked for the file system integrity check. I am back in the graphical environment. Now I just need to get my PCMCIA wireless network card working and I am all set. Back to work... oldgnome
