Hi Mark, a couple of silly questions, but you didn't say:

1. are you on as root? I don't think that a regular user
can do this. If I'm wrong, somebody please correct me.

2. Are you in the same directory as the rpm file? I've
used rpm to install this file. I've had some problems that
I haven't figured out yet, but it did install. (except for
the configuration parts) 

Give the exact steps that you used and the directories
that you and the rpm file were in when you ran the command.
Maybe that'll help shed some light on your problem.
