Here are the things that I've done to make things look a bit better:

1) Remove the 75dpi and 100dpi lines in /etc/X11/fs/config that don't
end in :unscaled. Restart xfs (/etc/rc.d/init.d/xfs restart).

2) In Netscape, click Edit->Preferences->Appearance->Fonts and choose
Helvetica(Adobe) for your variable width font, Courier(Adobe) for fixed
width. Pick a font size that you like. Do NOT click the "Scaled"
buttons. Also click the "Use my fonts" box.

3) Try switching the 75dpi and 100dpi font lines in /etc/X11/fs/config
and see if you prefer the size of one to the other. You'll have to
restart xfs to notice the changes.

Those have been my best bets for using stock fonts and getting a good
looking Netscape.
