Dennis, that almost was it. But not
quite. I have a static IP on the client 192.168.1.50
I tried to reconfigure the Internet Connection
sharing and it would not let me change any of the settings. It defaulted
to 192.168.1.1 as the dns server and prveiously I had the ISP dns server
there. When I restarted using 192.168.1.1 as the dns server, all works
fine. So from my thinking, it appears that this ICS automatically
installs named as a cacheing dns server and the only way it will work is using
the internal nic ip as the dns server.
I still don't understand why that prevented ping
from going outside. But at least it is now working.
Thanks all for you input on this problem.
