Anne, the physical location of the different components are irrelevant. the database (Mysql) is the server and the client (mysql cli client, myphpadmin, perl/cgi/html webpage, whatever) is the client. they can easily be on the same pc or different ones; i use them in both scenarios. likewise the ui can be on the same pc or a different platform completely; all you need do is direct the connection back to mysql, whether it be a local or networked connection. basically the database and whatever interface you decide on are completely separate and have only the constructed connection between them in common.
i hope i described what i wanted to say such that it makes sense to someoen besides me *g*. joe --- Original Message --- From: Anne Wilson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [newbie] Personal database use >On Tuesday 07 Jan 2003 5:10 pm, Paul wrote: >> In reply to Anne's mail, d.d.
