After disable supermount you need under kde create one icon for the cdrom and other for the floppy; under gnome you just can click right on the desktop an select a cdrom or floppy to mount it automatically.
For kde proced in the next way: 1) Right click on the desktop, select "create new", then "cdrom drive" (Sorry, it is a litteral translation from Spanish, perhaps in your language the labels are different), and remember in the third label (Dispositive) to select the appropriate device (for example, /mnt/cdrom or /mnt/scd0.....).
