Derek,
At the # prompt I entered:urpme NVIDIA_GLX NVIDIA_kernel and got the error
message:
"unknown package".
Decided to Reinstall 9.0 and did a much better job (more attention to
detail).
However, I reformatted the / partition but did not reformat the /home
partition. Now a number of strange things are happening. KDE will not load
and problem with (SIGSEGV) and so on. I will Install a 3rd time and wipe
both partitions and have everything fresh.
I am learning a lot about installing. When 9 is running I will try to learn
something about the programs.
Thanks
Leo

That error will because the system is picking up your old NVIDIA_GLX glx
extension instead of the Mesa glx extension the open source driver uses.

The simple solution is to uninstall the old Nvidia drivers.
You can do that from a root console with the command
urpme NVIDIA_GLX NVIDIA_kernel
