Drew,

1) Configure a Texstar source for urpmi:

   urpmi.addmedia texstar 
http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/contrib/texstar/mandrake/9.1/rpms/ with 
./synthesis.hdlist.cz

2) Use urpmi to install mplayer:

   urpmi mplayer

3) Enjoy!
