[newbie] Problem with Lynx

Can anyone help me?

I have installed Mandrake 6.0.  When I invoke Lynx it fails with the
error message:

metamail:  Can't open temporary file!

I have read the man pages and documentation for both programmes, and
can't seem to find the answer.
