The pegasus driver is a USB driver so are we to assume we are talking about a usb device? If so then the driver will be loaded by USB hotplugging. When the device is plugged in its vendor code and device code will be read from the USB bus and compared to the lookup tables in /etc/hotplug/usb.distmap or usb.usermap or usb.handmap. If a match is found then the appropriate driver is loaded. It may be there is no table entry for your device in which case you should run usbview so you can read the device/vendor codes and make an entry yourself in usb.handmap.
