I'm surprised you didn't have more. Mandrake kernel 'src.rpm' would'a built about a half dozen or more different kernels. Next time, use the 'kernel-source' rpm. Altho, in this case, I believe Thomas only furnishes the precompiled binary rpm, and the 'src.rpm'. > [EMAIL PROTECTED] root]# cd /usr/src/RPM/RPMS/i586 > [EMAIL PROTECTED] i586]# ls > > kernel-tmb-2.4.22.12.tmb.1mdk-1-1mdk.i586.rpm > kernel-tmb-enterprise-2.4.22.12.tmb.1mdk-1-1mdk.i586.rpm > kernel-tmb-source-2.4.22-12.tmb.1mdk.i586.rpm > > I've never had 3 kernels before, do you install all 3, and if so > will it produce one set of kernel and initrc files or 3 of each. > > I guess you only install , > kernel-tmb-2.4.22.12.tmb.1mdk-1-1mdk.i586.rpm > but ? Correct, unless you want to use more than 860Mb of ram, you don't need (or want) the 'enterprise' version. Use 'rpm -ivh' to install kernel-tmb-2.4.22.12.tmb.1mdk-1-1mdk.i586.rpm. Use 'rpm -Uvh' if you also want to have source for the kernel installed (kernel-tmb-source-2.4.22-12.tmb.1mdk.i586.rpm). In light of the recent LG CDrom snafu, you should do a 'rpm -qpil kernel-tmb-2.4.22.12.tmb.1mdk-1-1mdk.i586.rpm |less' and read the description. I'm sure it includes a warning that this kernel version uses experimental kernel.org patches. AFAIK, nobody's reported any problems tho. 'Course that was the same deal with LG ;) I think there's also a newer version of Thomas' kernel available built around kernel-2.4.22.21mdk-1-1mdk -- Tom Brinkman Corpus Christi, Texas
