I installed the package you suggested, and inserted my Network Card. I heard no beeps, but I figured I should go on. I loaded Konsole, type 'iwconfig' and the response said that no network cards were detected in eth0 or lo. I should probably also tell you that when booting linux, some sort of check in eth0 fails.
