I can't remember whether it's Esc or F1, but one of them will take you to a text screen where you can select rescue. There's an option there that will restore your lilo.
I'm guessing that your experiments with partitions have screwed up the naming system. If I'm wrong it will do no harm. Sorry I can't remember the exact names of things, but if you don't panic and take time to read the screens it should be quite clear which ones I mean.
